  1. I am wanting to set the peak voltage output limit in bridge mode in System Architect (or from front panel). It still gives me the option for both channels, should I set it just for channel one or both channels ? I've had a look thru the manual but can't see anything definitive. Same with load monitoring for example, it still gives me load monitoring for both channels in bridge mode, should I add both figures together to get total impedance ? Thanks.
  2. XTi Problem

Thanks a lot, i will try the new firmware, even if I just have 'fan full on' will be ok for me, for now, as long as that fan is running. Can you see any harm if I attach some foam or material inside front grills of xti's to try and help keep some of the dust out ? Obviously would need to be porous enough as to not impede airflow. A bit of an oversight on my behalf, not realizing they didn't have dust catchers as I work outdoor dance parties, usually quite hot and dusty
  3. I trialed a version of SA running on XP on my macbook pro just to see if I could get it to work ok and it did, it was great. Took me a little while to get the software to see the amps, as I am not used to windows but got it figured in the end. So that trial version of xp expired and now I have installed another version of xp but when I go to install SA it asks me for a user name and password ? I don't remember it doing this before, is this normal ? I have no idea what my username and password would be apart from the one i registered with on the harmonpro website, but of course that desn't work ... any clues appreciated. Is it maybe a problem with the install of XP ? I went completely mad yesterday trying to get it installed. Cheers, Alan.
  4. XTi Problem

If I leave in normal position, it seems the fan does not come on/ it overheats and you can start to hear clicks in the music and then bursts of white/pink noise.
  5. XTi Problem

There are a lot of people experiencing problems with the xti range, more than any of the other amps it seems. I really like the software control and to be able to set all the xover points etc, within the amps, and would like to buy more, but it's obviously not worth anything if they will continue to be unreliable, and I am now unsure whether to invest in more xti's or sell this one and go down another road. Is it the fact that my amp shut down at a gig because a firmware update I did caused the fan to not come on as it previously did ? Crown, what is going on ? Regards, Alan.
  6. XTi Problem

Now i am home and I try the amp again just at low volume and after an hour or so I start to hear cracks in the music and then bursts of what sounds like white noise again. I notice the amp is hot and the fan is not working. Reading the posts here I notice reference to starting the amp up holding in the sel/enter button. I do this, the fan comes on, so now at least the amp is not overheating anymore but the fan is on all the time and so it seems I have the option of either having the fan on or off but nothing in between like a temp sensor that engages the fan, do I have a defective unit ? Is there any harm in running it with the fan fully engaged all the time ? Regards, Alan.
  7. XTi Problem

This happened after running all night and into the next day, in the heat and dust, so i am not sure if this had something to do with it, probably ... the music stops and just what sounds like white noise or something similar. Turn amp off and back on again, and is ok for a bit then same again. Perhaps a build up of dust inside ? Regards, Alan.
  8. Nevermind, got it figured The Xti needed a firmware update, I got confused because in Sys. Architect 'help' it said go to crown website for firmware, but actually you need to use the firmware package that came with system architect. This is all pretty exciting seeing what is possible to do. Driverack PA for sale if anyone's interested.
  9. I have just got xp installed on my macbook pro, using bootcamp in leopard. After playing around a bit I finally got system architecht to find my itech 6000. and all seems to be connected and transfering properly. Very excited at the new possibilities, but I can't get it to find my xti I'm running the usb straight from the amp to the laptop, the amp seems to light up (reboot) every few minutes or so but it's just not popping up in system architect, have been thru the help menu following same steps to get the itch connected but cant seem to find info for usb ? Help very much appreciated at the moment ! Thanks.
  10. Ok, thanks for that David. What I am wondering is whether I could do this, to eliminate the need for a hub like the one you mentioned ... for the time being, perhaps to get it later if i need it. Set up itech sub amp direct with computer so that it is doing everything I want it to so that I don't need to control it from out front (I use crossover cable for this right ?). But then to have control of the mid / high xti's from a usb hub with a long usb cord, you mentioned usb may not work over long distance, how long is that distance, for example can I get 5 to 10m so i can at least hear what is going on for testing set up ? Also, I can't see it in the xti manual but can I get detailed control over things like phase / xover high and low pass, bandpass, different slopes, detailed eq, etc. on the xti's from within system architect ? (I haven't been able to view/hook up system architect yet as am on mac and waiting for new mac i can boot up windows on) Thanks, Alan.
  11. I have a 3 way pa set up with an itech6000 driving the subs, an xti4000 doing the mids and a mackie m1400 doing the hf. I currently use a driverack pa to do the crossover etc. What I am wondering is if I replace the mackie with an xti amp, can I then use one software interface (system architect ?) to control all 3 amps in the rack, and do away with the driverack pa ? ... And to take it a step further, (one step at a time I know but ... ), I noticed on the system architect site that you can use wireless, is it somehow possible to have something connecting the three amps in the rack and then controlling it all wireless with my laptop out the front, or would I need to run 3 seperate cables out to the front or is there some sort of device I can use so that I only need to run one cable to my laptop ? Any help, suggestions, pointers in the right direction, would be much appreciated. Thanks, Alan.
  12. I think this is the case actually, each lab is fitted with 2x 500watt 12" drivers, I think this is program power rating, I have just been told though that under controlled conditions, ie; with high pass filter etc. that each box will easily handle 2000 watts... I think I would be best eventually to get 2 amps that put 2000 a side each into 4 ohms, so run one box off each channel, ultimately safer and probably cleaner sound than 2 ohms ? Just $$$

  14. Hi David, thanks for that, I am currently driving 2x LAB folded sub horns (wired 4ohms each) from each channel of my itech 6000. This should be 2 ohms per channel but the front panel display of the itech is mostly saying 3ohms per side, obviously better for me if this is correct but do you think I would perhaps be better to look for a different amp combination for these subs (they will handle up to 2000 watts each) or do you think it safe to stay with it this way ?
  15. OSX compatibility

Hmm... Maybe I'll be able to try the software out on Linux's "Wine" Windows Emulator. If I do and can, I'll let you all know. 3780[/snapback] Another vote for OSX version, was dissapointed when I first got my itech 6000 to learn it was windows only ... wasn't mentioned anywhere. Have ended up using a driverack for processing, am considering getting another itech and possibly some xti's so will eventually end up using laptop...hopefully my mac , can you use the same software for both the itechs and the xti's simultaneously, ie. manage them all together in the one interface ?
