CONNECTING A CROWN CONDENSER MIC (such as a CM-311AHS) TO A CLEAR-COM AB-100 ANNOUNCERS CONSOLEOption 1: Using the existing 6-pin XLR headset connector in the AB-1001. Remove the stereo phone plug connector from a pair of headphones, and unsolder the cable leads from the phone plug.2. Solder a 2-conductor shielded mic cable (about 3 feet long) to a 3-pin female XLR connector. Pin 1: shield, pin 2: mic high, pin 3: mic low. Well call this the 3-foot mic cable. 3. Solder the 3-foot mic cable and the headphone to a 6-pin male XLR cable connector, such as Switchcraft A6M or Neutrik NC6MXS, according to the pinout table below. 4. Inside the AB-100 is an 8-pin connector that sets the functions of the female 6-pin XLR headset connector. Install a jumper between pins 7 and 8 on the 8-pin connector to enable +48V phantom for the microphone. See the schematic on page 29 of the AB-100 manual. Then make these connections:
Option 2: Using a 3-pin XLR connector and headphone jack that you install in the AB-1001. Install a 3-pin female chassis-mount XLR connector in the AB-100 in place of the factory-supplied 6-pin XLR headset connector on the back panel.2. Install a 1/4 stereo phone jack in the AB-100 in the 1/4 hole next to the headset connector on the back panel. 3. Inside the AB-100 is an 8-pin connector that sets the function of the previous 6-pin headset connector. Install a jumper between pins 7 and 8 on the 8-pin connector to enable +48V phantom for the microphone. Then make these connections between the XLR connector you installed and the AB-100s 8-pin connector:
4. See the AB-100 schematic diagram on page 29 of the AB-100 operation manual. Connect the stereo phone jack to the 3-pin block as shown in the schematic. 5. Plug a mic cable between the Crown microphone and the AB-100 3-pin mic input connector that you installed. Plug headphones into the headphone jack that you installed.
