Does Crown make any water-resistant microphones? I need to mount a mic outdoors for ambient level sensing.

Reply: The Crown PZM-11LLWR is water resistant. The mic has a line-level output that connects to a line input of a recording device. Its street price is about $137.

Another option is to put a thin plastic sandwich bag over a microphone. The bag should be limp, not stretched, because a stretched membrane tends to reduce the bass in the signal.
