Elkhart, IN – March 2006 -- Crown International and JBL Professional announced their new line of amplifiers dedicated for use in cinema sound systems, the DSi Series. The series includes three two-channel amplifiers and an eight-channel system monitor. Stephen Morris, Director of Marketing for Cinema and Tour Sound at Crown and Chuck Goodsell, JBL Professional’s Director of Cinema Marketing made the announcement: “The new DSi Series is the first Crown/JBL amplifier line dedicated from the ground up for cinema applications,” noted Morris. “The Crown design team worked with JBL Professional, the world leader in cinema loudspeakers, every step of the way during the development of DSi. The resulting amplifier series has built-in technology, features and performance that make it an outstanding value given its very attractive price.” Goodsell added, “JBL is proud to have played an important part in bringing this line to market. DSi amplifiers work flawlessly with popular JBL cinema systems, including our ScreenArray® Series featuring Academy Award® winning technology. Cinema systems have never sounded better, or been easier to install, than with JBL cinema loudspeaker systems powered by Crown/JBL DSi Series amplifiers.”

DSi Series features include automatic presets for JBL cinema speaker systems for quick, easy setup. An intuitive front panel LCD guides installers through the process of choosing loudspeaker signal processing presets and other system parameters. Digital Signal Processing includes crossover, EQ filters, delay, and output limiting. Computer connectivity via USB allows setup of the amplifier using the included HiQnet™ System Architect™ software. Rear panel HD-15 connectors provide easy input/output connectivity between the amplifiers and the DSi-8M system monitor. The system monitor provides eight channels for pre-amp and post-amp signal monitoring. All models fill two rack spaces.

DSi Series amplifiers include Crown’s extremely light and efficient switch-mode power supply, and all three models use a 15-amp AC inlet and weigh less than 17 pounds.

The power ratings per channel for the DSi Series amplifiers are as follows:

  • DSi 1000 is 500 watts per channel at 4 ohms
  • DSi 2000 is 700 watts per channel at 4 ohms
  • DSi 4000 is 1200 watts per channel at 4 ohms

Like all Crown amplifiers, the new DSi Series is backed by the manufacturer’s industry-exclusive Three-Year, No-Fault, Fully Transferable Warranty.
