Hi, I've got a CM-700 that generates serious "static-y" noise at seemingly random intervals, making it unusable. When it's not making noise, it records great, so I'd like to try and address the problem. Has anybody ever heard of this problem, or have any ideas about what might be the cause and/or how to fix it?
Thanks!

You might want to check and see if the screw on the side of the mic near the XLS connector is tight. That serves as the grounding point for the mic chassis. If it is loose, this could cause intermittent noise. If it's not that, then check mic cables to make sure they are free from defects. Then your last choice would be to send the mic in for service. Follow the directions on our website (www.crownaudio.com) under the support heading, and choose factory service. You will will out the Service Return Authorization (SRA) form and creat an SRA number.
