Trying to fix a Crown Powerbase 2 with a fried channel. I've found the bad transistors and other parts but am reluctant to put new ones in and have them fry again when the switch is thrown. Can a variac be used to slowly bring up voltages so a problem can be detected early? Can a bad main module cause the outputs to fry?
Thanks,

The main and output boards can cause failures on each other. Part of the drive circuit and the current limiting circuits are on the main board. If the output section fails, the failure can go all the way to the main board.
