[Pottersclay]

Inside the xlr connector is a preamp that I dis/reconnected in order to feed the wire in a narrow space. There is now mostly hum. I am wondering if there is a special polarity to the two magnets, or I didn't get the twist of the shield just right. There is obviously a trick to this and I could use some guidance please.
