Hi,
I bought a CM 311a used. It's about 4 years old. What I am wondering is have there any improvements to the new models that are not in the older models? Any reason to upgrade? I saw a picture on one website that looks like the wire frame over the ears is much thinner and smaller, but the picture on Crowns site looks like mine.

There are no improvements on the CM-311A's in current production over the microphone you have. The picture you saw was probably the original CM-311 microphone. One of the improvements in the "A" version is the heavier duty headband.
