I have a PCC 170GT. I need the mike open all the time. The gating breaks the flow of the recording as it responds to short pauses in a conversation. Can this mike be made to operate as a normal PCC 170?

Remove R33 3.01K. This will turn off the LED.
Remove R18 75 ohms, and solder a jumper across R6 6.8K. This will disable gating.
R33 connects directly to the LED.
R18 and R6 connect to each other and to a 0.01 uF capacitor.
The other end of R6 connects directly to the microphone capsule.
