I had been seaching very hard to find a good dealer in my area. I live in Markham, Ontario, Canada.
Want to buy 4 set of Crown AMP XLS-402 for my new 7.1 HT.
I can see so many ebay store selling it at US 229.00 but they are all in US.

I am wondering where it ship from US to CAD.
How much will be the duty and tax ?
How much will be the custom clearance fee ?
Of course it have GST and PST !!!

So, want to look for a good price dealer locally.

Please anyone can help me ...

LA Music in Mississauga on Dundas & hwy 10 has Crown, but I think Long & Mcquade's & Steves Music on Queen & Spadina may also sell Crown

I had tried very hard to find good price dealer in Canada.
Come up the price is not comparable to the US dealer.
Even I need to pay shipping charges, custom clearance charges. etc, the US dealer end up with cheaper price.
I am so down, why we have to buy 30%-50% more for the same products here in Canada......

xman -

Do what you like, but remember one thing regarding warranty: If you buy from the U.S. and the amp should require service, the Canadian distributor and warranty service depots may refuse to fix it. (I'm not sure if this is the case with Soundcraft Canada as mentioned my DGLASS)

I have heard of this happening to several people puchasing cross-border with other pro-audio brands - in one case he just had to pay for the repair, in another case they just said "Can't touch it - send it back to the U.S. manufacturer",  and in the most extreme case, the distributor just shipped it back to the manufacturer as soon as they realized that it wasn't "theirs".

I am aware of at least one Canadian Distributor that requires Serial Numbers from the service depot to ship parts - If the unit didn't follow the proper sales chain, then no soup for you!

Also, you will probably notice that most Pro Audio products have this "premium" in Canada - between distributors that need to be paid, extended shipping costs, Duty fees at the border etc. etc., dare I say that it seems fair to me.

Also.... have you considered doing the "walk in with a wad of cash" thing and saying "I'd like four XLS402's Please".... I'm sure on 4 units a little bit of a deal can happen.

xman,
LA Music in Mississauga has them listed on the web for $469. CAD
it sure seems like a good price to me!

I will be getting rid of my csl 460's & power tech 1's & buying 4 new ce1000's
@ $699.ea in the next month or so, as soon as I decide if I want the Anthem AVM30 or Rotel RSP 1068.
sometime trying to save a penny ends up costing more,

good luck on your quest!!
Dave
