Connect the tape out from the sherwood to the tape in on the kenwood EQ. Connect the line out from the EQ to the XLS1000 amp using an RCA to XLR cable. This should work, if it doesn't, try to connect from the sherwood VCR out instead of the tape out to the EQ or try to use tape out instead of Line out on the EQ.

Tape out and VCR out are typically fixed level, this means no volume adjustement. You may instead try using the headphone plug, with the appropriate adaptator.

Thanks for all the help, had to hook through the headphone jack,
but now with the EQ hooked up, I have to turn the volume up
twice as much as before without the EQ.
Is this correct?

This should have been the other way around. Doe's the EQ have any gain setting? if so then push it up.
