PIP-USP3 Ferrite Core Upgrade

3 posts in this topic

New PIP-USP3's are shipping with a clamp-on ferrite core for emission regulations. The enclosed instruction sheet says to place the supplied ferrite core on "the cable" but doesn't identify the cable. The picture shows an RJ-type connector, but it isn't clear whether this is the AUX or NETWORK cable. Can you clarify?

The ferrite choke you are referring to is for the Data Line (RJ-45) cable not the Aux (RJ-11) cable. It is to meet the stringent European CE Emissions requirements when using standard Cat 5 UTP cable. You would have to check with the European standards group as to if STP would meet their requirements or not.
