About aftershock

  1. Thanks for the reply! That dbx looks like a nice unit, thanks again for the info. Matt
  2. Thanks for info and htehp. I did a search on this forum and found out the XLS will do 4 ohms bridged safely but there is no spec due to CE regs. Strange but at least it will do it. I brought an XIT home on Friday and hooked it up. Over the weekend I had 3 other people listen to the XLS and XTI side by side and there was no comparison. The XTI lacked tons of kick on the bottom end. As it turns out one of the avs forum members did a test and found out that the XTI does not even come close to providing it's rated published power. Here is the link. So, I returned the XTI and will keep the XLS. Does CROWN sell the cool DSP as a separate unit?
  3. I am glad you liked the XLS-802D, but you will like the XTI-1000 or 2000 even better. - What would I gain by switching to the silver amp? Will it sound better? I don't mind running a dedicated line and a larger circuit breaker. Ths is getting even stranger. According to one of the Crown staff the XLS is 4 ohm stable will pull more than 15 amps from the wall. The XLS does 2100 watts and 8 ohm and thus at 4 ohm it would put out much more power than the XIT. So why would I want to use an XTi rather than the XLS? Matt

  5. Thanks, so you are saying that the XTI would work better than the XLS I currently have? Matt
  6. I bought a Mackie and returned it for a XLS 802D which sounds amazing. Upon discussing this on a home theater forum it was recommended that I take back the 802D and purchase either an XTi 2000 or a used CE4000. I am pushing an 18 inch woofer that will handle 1500 watts RMS at 4 ohms. I like the sound of the 802D but do you guys think the other amps would be a better match. The wife does NOT like the white. And to be honest I don't either. What was crown thinking making a white pro amp? Do you recommend a dedicated 20 or 30 amp circuit for the Crown amp? Thanks, Matt
