About KPS

  1. I have been messing with it some more, and it has been on and stable for about 15 minutes. Before this restart, it was clicking twice every 20 seconds or so, but no fault lights. Can the relay go bad and cause this behavior? After a solid whack to the relay with a screwdriver handle, it has been on now for 2 hours with perfect stability. If it remains in fine working order, should I replace the relay anyway?

  3. I have a 2005 vintage CE4000 that will start up, go through the blinking light sequence, click, and run normally, but will then start clicking very loudly and go into fault mode. It sometimes then goes back to running normally after a few loud clicks. Other times, it remains in fault mode. Any ideas? Thanks
  4. Hello hello hello.....echo echo echo..... Mr. Glass hasn't posted since the 17th of March. I don't think anyone at Crown is actually reading these forums.....
  5. Additional info--the flyaway transformer on that other daughter board next to the PFC coils looked a little rough. I took a board out of another CE4000 and switched them, and it still had a fault condition on both channels. So. at least that can be ruled out.
  6. I bought a couple used CE4000's. Both were supposed to be in working order. One runs fine. The other had a rattling sound when I pulled it out of the box. I opened it up and one of the PFC inductor coils(I think that is what they are called) was dangling. The bolt and plastic piece that retain it were loose in the case. The "nut" that is supposed to be part of the backplate was broken off and loose inside as well. I epoxied that back in place as a temporary fix. With no inputs or outputs connected, the amp fires up and then the fault lights on both channels remain lit. Unlike the good amp, I don't hear any clicking sound soon after startup. Any ideas or things I can troubleshoot from here? Thanks!
