  1. So then, how do I find out if there is still a warranty on this amp or not, in order to get it repaired under warrantly or to just send it in to an Authorized repair location (Toronto, Canada) I bought it second hand and did not recieve any information as to how old it was or where it was purchased from. I am lost, but would like to get it repaired under warranty if still applicable? Serial #: 8001275428 manufactured 29/07/2006 so it's right on the edge of it's warranty from 'as build' but maybe the dealer/reseller only got this off his shelves quite some time latter, and thus the warrantly only started/trasnferred from that point. Are you able to check Crown records for which delaer this unit was sold too and when? I can then at least follow up with the dealer here in Toronto area and persue from there. Regards Dveldma
  2. "The internal generator will randomly start for no apparent reason." It's possible the crystal that runs the micropressor chip is shutting down due to a cap. If this cap is going bad it will cause the crystal to heat up and it will shut down. Then the microprocessor shuts down and the DSP can put out this pink noise. if you power cycle the amp, does it stop for a while/ Kip Whitehead Crown Technical Support Yep, spot on. Will be fine again after power cycle...'till next 'hit'
  3. XTi 2K amp is randomly outputting it's internal pink noise generator for some reason. Already checked the mains supply that it's within spec for the 15% bootm and 0% top on requirements. The internal generator will randomly start for no apparent reason. Low program feed, nominal source levels, all withing low to medium program usage. Yes, before you ask, I have uploaded the latest firmware via SA, to no avail. I am desperate, I can no longer trust the amp for any of my gigs and would love to resolve this little 'hickup'. DSP settings do not eleviate the situation. Tried different levels, EQ's on and off, forced the pink noise genny on and off etc etc....... Anyone know of any physical way to bypass the internal DSP totally? Would solve all my problems.

  5. I am going to email you the latest firmware 1.1.5.6. Try to install it and let me know what happens. Thanks David Worked like a charm. Upgraded and SA is now addressing and interacting just fine. Audio is now outputting too. Phew, you diverted a disaster. Appreciated David Veldman

  7. Furthr to above's issue, I just tried outputting some audio..nadda. I suspected something was up when after the failed firmware upgrade, I notice the rellay's double switching from off to on and then off again. Signals' coming in but no audio outpit. Now I am desperate. I just want to get this puppy singing again.
  8. I posted this in the root of the Amplifier troubleshooting list, appologies if in the wrong spot or double posted (newbie), this seems more like the right place to post this question/issue. Scoured all the forums and came up blank on the following: ....OK, call me stupid or just dumb, but for the life of me, irrespective of any version of CLoader that I use, I cannot get it to complete a successful firmware upgrade. I have just acquired a Crown XT12000 with Pre September '06 firmware (1.0.8) that needs updating so I can use System Architecture (doesn't recognize amp right now due to legacy firmware). I keep getting the following error message (Using CLoader v2.19 and Hex files XTI1141_Intel32bit.hex)right after byte 1024 when it wants to check serial number..."Crown USB Amplifier. Ver 0.006 Crown Audio HID. Need USB Ver 1.00 or greater To program Serial Number". That's it! It just sits there, with no other feedback nor does it time out. I did notice in the middle of the 30 second cycle (while checking serial number) that the amp 'reboots' and that's when it's losing it's USB connectivity, and probably why I get the USB error message in the first place. Any ideas on how I can flash the firmware so I can use SA, and more importantly, get the tunings fired up for this? Any help or advise and guidance would be greatly appreciated. Dveldma
  9. May want to plug it into System Architect and run the panel config on it. Possibly forcing it into white noise and then off again on the master volumes may 'kick' it into normal mode again. Sounds like a DSP function failure whereby the firmware has inadvertanly switched on the internal noise generator and won't switch off again. Just a thought...
