  1. Greetings Karlos, that's what I figured. I think I will try to find an A model since it will match my amp and the headphone jack is a plus. If anyone else has any input I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Karlos, Darrol
  2. I am looking to buy an IC-150 or IC-150a, and would appreciate some input as to which of these 2 preamps are better. I have a DC-300a and the A model would match my amp but I'm really not to concerned about that, I just want to spend my money on the best. I understand that the A model has a stepped attenuator, which is nice. Are thier really any differences between these two or is it all cosmetic? Thanks, Darrol
  3. Greetings Carlos, the hum is coming from the amplifier itself, not the speakers where thier is no detectable hum at all. I'm driving the amp with the preouts of my Harmon Kardon HK-3480 reciever and unfortunatly Harmon Kardon does'nt give a spec for the output voltage of the preouts. Is it possible to check this? I'm going to checkout the dc offset like you suggested. I tried to buy an IC-150 off of ebay but it went for $405 and I just could'nt afford it at this time. Thanks for all your help. P.S. do you know anything about a Crown DL-2 preamp, I know where thiers one of these for sale.
  4. Thanks Carlos, but even if I knew what DC offset was, I doubt that I would be able to check it. It is an earlier model with the plain aluminum front panel, IOC lights, and gain controls. I'm not sure of the serial # but I can get it if needed. Can someone tell me if Crown still services this amp? If not can you recommend someone who can check it out for me.

  6. I recently purchased a DC-300A, which I bought on ebay, where else. The thing is pristine as it came from some churches PA system, definatley a smoke free enviornment. I'm driving it through the preouts of my Harmon Kardon HK3480 reciever and it just isn'nt producing the volume level I feel it should. I bought this to replace an Onkyo M-501 which I thought the Crown should be able to smoke, even on its worst day. But no. The DC300A sounds great, better than the Onkyo. I just can't get the higher SPL I thought I would. It seems to be functioning properly, because when I crank it up the IOC lights start flashing off and on indicating that it is starting to clip. Could the problem be with the reciever? Do I need to buy a preamp? Or could thier possibly be a problem with the amp itself? I love this amp as I have wanted one since I was a teenager, going into the local Hi-Fi shop and listening to it played through a pair of Klipsch folded horns wow! Unfortunatly those speakers are way out of my budget. I had to settle for a pair of Bose 601's which are pretty good speakers but definatley not Klipsch. Also I have noticed that the amp has a low level hum, from the amp not the speakers. Is this normal? Or is it a precursor of some other problem. The hum is barely noticeable, and is something I can live with. Does Crown still service this amp? Please help, Darrol
